Rio Rancho Escape at Ken's

Game Night at Ken's

One Off Games and Social Time for Rio Rancho Escape

September 5th 2014

I would like to have any one who interested over to play a game and perhaps discuss character generation and game stuff for Steamscapes a steampunk RPG.  I have a couple of things that are ready to go.  Not RPG just good tabletop fun.  Here are the choices so far.  I have tons of other stuff and can put something together pretty quick if these do not gab anyone's interest.    So here we go...

X-wing miniatures on a Cloud City map.  Couple of scenarios as time allows.  I have bunches of ships, plenty to go around.

Or...

It's like a Ren Faire in my living room.  Fun jousting action, once again I have knights for everyone with leftovers.

Afterwards if anyone is interested we can talk about an upcoming game of Steamscapes.  Here is a quick teaser.  I posted some background stuff in the Files section of Rio Rancho Escape

Relocated once again

After settling into the man cave at Castle Rock, I ended up moving to New Mexico.  I found a local gaming group and went to a murder mystery dinner recently.  I am looking to play some games when things settle down a bit.  Here is a short list of some of the games I play.

Settled in to the new Man Cave

Well it took a few months but I am now settled in the new Man Cave.  So I thought I would add a few Pics.  The new lair is pretty good size and has a pool table that I use as a gaming table or I can set up my 4x4 table.

I have a television video gaming area, and an attached office and full bath.  I have a stocked mini fridge and plenty of cabinet space for game and terrain storage.  I am really lucky to have this kind of space.  What a change from playing in my barn in the Texas heat a few years ago.

Playing Song of Lilies and Lions

Playing a game  of Song of Lilies and Lions.  Had some time this weekend, sort of a long weekend and so wanted to get in a few games.  I was playing a Cry Havoc! scenario using the SoBH home-brew Lilies and Lions.  Here are a couple of pics

I am gearing up for some flying lead using GI Joe type action figures.  I thought I would post some examples of the figures and stats.

Some of the figures are quite inexpensive I got some for about $2.00.  I have a set of large sticks that I also use when playing Flying Lead Star Wars with action figures.  I have a bunch more of these done.  I use Comic Life to make the sheets.

I may play a game of this next week and post a battle report.

Return to gaming!

After relocating to Castle Rock I am finally getting settled.  I have begun taking an interest in games again.  I am looking to start a group called Castle Rock Wargamers.  I started a new blog for it and am checking on possible venues.  There isn't a gaming store in Castle Rock as far as I can tell.  The Colorado Springs groups meet on Thursdays which is school night for me,  The Saturday group always seems had to do as well.  So I will see what I can drum up here locally.  I will provide all the games for the first few outings till we see what anyone else is interested in doing.

I have the 100 years war stuff out and played a solo game of Days of Knights.  I painted a few more Vikings.  I am going to play some SBH in the near future.  I am looking to play some Wings of Glory with my Dad in the weeks ahead.  The new Man cave is great, I do miss the fireplace, but this one has a bathroom and is much larger.  I need to post some new photos soon.  It's good to be back, it's been too long...

Star Wars Game Day

Had a great Star Wars Game Day with my brother Paul on Saturday.    We Started off with the board game Assult on Hoth.  Paul played the Rebellion Ground Forces, his son, my nephew, Aaron played the Snowspeeders, and I was the Imperial Commander.  The game was great fun.  I managed to get one AT-AT down to the shield generator, but the fifth Transport got away before I was able to fire on it.

Our game played very similar to the events in the movie. Aaron did get reinforcement snowpeeders right at the very beginning which was very useful.  Luke was of little use, his force enhanced rolls were flops. Card driven unit activation makes the games suspenseful, and you just never know when those transports are going to get away.

Next my brother and I played Star Wars Flying Lead.  We played a Gunfight at the Dewback Corral scenario.  There was a small portion of Mos Eisley set up complete with a pen of Dewbacks.  The forces of Jabba the Hutt set out to confront some hired hands of rival crime boss Lady Valarian.

Jabba's goons included a couple of Gammoreans, and a couple of his skiff guards and had the edge in close combat weapons.  One skiff guard held off a flanking move by taking out a couple of foes who moved around behind a building on the edge of the battle.  We used a special rule Gunfighter, which id the firing portion of Combat Fiend.   We let Combat Fiend apply to hand to hand and Gunfighter does the same for ranged attacks.

I had a couple of Gran who did well and managed to shoot up Ephant Mon and whittle down his Tough.  He ended up being Shaken and had problems trying to recover.  One of my spaceport scum was able to jump out and put him out of his misery.  Things went downhill for Jabba's men from there.  Someone will have to report the failure to The Great one.  That someone will most likely end up as Rancor chow.

I didn't get many pictures but will try to cobble together a battle report and post it soon.
